Ahh...another thrilling tale by Erin Hunter! This story follows the events after Leafpool, the medicine cat of ThunderClan, ran away with a warrior of WindClan named Crowfeather.
Here's the basic summary:
After the Great Battle with the Dark Forest (dead evil cats that are somehow alive in there), all of the Clans are taking their time to heal their wounds. Many have fallen in the battle, and the Clans are at peace with one another as they grieve and rest.
In ThunderClan, the medicine cat, Leafpool, is uneasy as she realizes she is expecting kits with a warrior from WindClan. She is afraid of the medicine cat code and goes to confer with StarClan (their guiding ancestors) about her kits.
After she meets with StarClan, Leafpool makes a difficult decision and leaves ThunderClan to have her kits, bringing her sister, Squirrelflight, with her. When Leafpool's kits grow up and are ready to travel, she returns to ThunderClan with her kits and Squirrelflight.
At home, at last, Squirrelflight stays loyal to her sister and says that the kits are hers and Brambleclaw's (her mate). This leads to a period of sadness as her kits grow up, unaware that their mother is Leafpool. And at the end of the story, Leafpool vows to love her kits forever.
I'd rate it a 6.5/10. I prefer more suspense-based novels, and this was centered mainly around the themes of motherhood/family bonds/forbidden ties. If you like those themes in books, though, then I'd recommend you pick this one up.
